Tashi Baijiu Wins "Spirit of the Year" and Tibetu Whisky Wins Silver Award at the 2025 San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge

San Diego, Calif. (February 25, 2025) – The 43rd Annual San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge, held January 25-26 at The Westgate Hotel, celebrated the finest beverages from around the globe.

This year, Tashi Baijiu made history by winning the prestigious "Spirit of the Year" award, scoring an impressive 96 points and securing the Platinum Award. Additionally, Tibetu Whisky was honored with the Silver Award, marking a triumphant showing for both products at one of the most respected spirits competitions in the United States.

Tashi Baijiu, a standout in the baijiu category, captivated the judges with its exceptional quality and masterful craftsmanship. Its complex flavor profile and refined finish earned it the title of "Spirit of the Year." Tashi Baijiu is more than just a Chinese spirit; it is a cultural ambassador. The name "Tashi" originates from the Tibetan greeting "Tashi Delek," symbolizing good fortune and auspiciousness. Made from highland barley from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Tashi combines traditional Chinese baijiu brewing techniques with international spirits design principles, resulting in a truly distinctive flavor profile. Designed for global consumers, Tashi aims to introduce the world to the unique charm and cultural heritage of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Its widespread recognition among international consumers highlights the ambition and strength of Tibet Alajiabao Spirits Co., Ltd. in expanding its global presence.

Tibetu Whisky, another rising star, was awarded the Silver Medal for its outstanding craftsmanship and unique character. As a Chinese whisky crafted from highland barley, Tibetu Triple Cask Whisky showcases the company’s commitment to exploring the intersection of tradition and innovation. Aged in three different types of oak casks, Tibetu Triple Cask Whisky delivers a rich, multi-layered flavor profile that sets it apart.

The San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge, founded in 1982, is renowned for its rigorous blind-tasting process and esteemed judging panel. It is one of the most respected wine and spirits competitions in the U.S. The competition enlists the talents of winemakers, sommeliers, wine and spirits buyers, and other industry professionals on its judging panels and attracts entries from across the globe. The competition joins the Challenge Series of international wine and spirits competitions founded by wine journalist Robert Whitley that includes Winemaker Challenge, Distillers Challenge, Critics Challenge, and Sommelier Challenge. This year, Chief Spirits Judge Maurice diMarino, beverage director of the Cohn Restaurant Group, led a panel of 18 judges through two days of tastings to determine the winners across various categories.

Both Tashi Baijiu and Tibetu Triple Cask Whisky are independent international brands launched by Tibet Alajiabao Spirits Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of TianYouDe Highland Barley Spirit Co., Ltd.) to meet the diverse tastes of global consumers. These products reflect the company’s independence and innovative capabilities in its globalization efforts. With the launch of these brands, Tibet Alajiabao Spirits Co., Ltd. is becoming a vital bridge connecting Eastern and Western cultures, showcasing the unique spirit making heritage and endless charm of Tibet to the world.
